A symbolism against human slaveryMetamorphosis
A collection created for a UNICEF Germany initiative — a portrayal of the unyielding battle for survival in sex trafficking, and the strength required to escape it.
A symbolism against human slavery
Metamorphosis showcases the strength required to escape human trafficking and the struggle for ownership of one's own body. This crime is pervasive and has become even more prevalent since the start of the war in Ukraine, with over 7 million registered refugees in Europe — predominantly women and children vulnerable to trafficking gangs.
The collection seeks to encourage people to pay closer attention to their surroundings and raise awareness about this crime. It strives to highlight the incredible strength of feminism, serving as a role model for all of us to take control of our own destinies.
Its language is drawn from the Akan symbols of Ghana: Fawohodie, the sign of emancipation, freedom and independence, and Sankofa, the bird that turns its head backward — the wisdom of learning from the past in order to move forward.
